Senior Features Editor - Maternity Cover
Role: Senior Features Editor
Contract length: 12 months (Maternity Cover)
Location: London
The Senior Features Editor will support The Pharmaceutical Journal’s Executive Editor – News & Views in taking responsibility for features; including commissioning, editing and writing feature content. This includes producing podcasts and infographics on a monthly basis. The Senior Features Editor will also support the News Editor by writing news content related to their features when time allows.
Main Responsibilities:
To take responsibility for sourcing, writing, commissioning and editing features for the PJ website – checking for the legality, accuracy and appropriateness of the content.
To assist the Executive Editor in developing investigations and other data-driven editorial projects for The Journal e.g. through Freedom of Information requests, NHS prescribing data or scientific research.
Develop ideas for multimedia content, including infographics and podcasts.
To assist the Art Editor with the selection of pictures and illustrations to accompany features content.
To represent The Pharmaceutical Journal at meetings, symposia and press conferences and to report the proceedings.
Work with the Executive Editors in delivering new editorial and supported content, including partnership projects with industry as and when required.
Requirements:
At least three years of experience in features journalism, preferably in a health-related field.
Undergraduate degree, preferably in science, pharmacy or medicine.
Strong awareness of current issues and of what makes a good feature.
Commissioning experience is crucial.
Well organised.
Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
How we are currently working:
Royal College of Pharmacy supports and works in a hybrid way, which means you will be able to work from home, however, there will be an expectation for collaborative face-to-face working – on average and typically this may be something between 4-8 working days per month at our London Office Office.
