Interim Financial Controller
Salary: £80-85,000

Duration: 12 months
We are looking for an Interim Financial Controller to manage the Royal college's finance function for the new charity and its trading subsidiaries, ensuring that appropriate controls are in place, key deadlines are met and that accurate and compliant financial information is produced.
The Role Profile:
Lead all financial control, transactional finance and accounting operations across the charity and its subsidiaries, ensuring robust systems, controls and compliance processes are in place.
Manage month-end and year-end close processes, consolidated reporting, statutory accounts and external audits in line with Charities SORP and FRS 102 requirements.
Oversee treasury, banking, payments and cash management activities, supporting the delivery of the organisation’s treasury strategy.
Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, delegated authorities and internal controls to drive consistency, accountability and strong financial governance.
Lead all taxation activities including VAT, Gift Aid, PAYE/NI and Corporation Tax, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance and timely submissions.
Provide high-quality financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and management information to support strategic decision-making across the organisation.
Requirements:
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in a senior finance role within the charity sector.
Strong technical accounting expertise including FRS 102, Charities SORP, group consolidations and charity taxation (VAT/PESM, Gift Aid).
Proven experience managing year-end audits, statutory accounts preparation and annual reporting for charitable organisations and group structures.
Strong background in financial management across transactional finance, treasury, cashflow and general ledger functions.
Demonstrated success in improving financial controls, systems, processes and operational efficiency within a finance function.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead teams, manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Hands-on experience with financial systems and reporting tools, including advanced Excel skills; experience with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central and Power BI is advantageous.

The job holder has the following direct reports: Accounts Supervisor (team of three).
How we are currently working:
The Royal College supports and works in a hybrid way, which means you will be able to work from home, however, there will be an expectation for collaborative face-to-face working – on average and typically this may be something between 4-8 working days per month at our London Office
